Ar. Dato’ Dr Ikmal Hisham Albakri @ Ikmal Hisham Hariri bin Mustapha Albakri

(Age 75, Malaysian)

Graduated with a Diploma in Achitecture from Sheffield University in 1956 and later a Diploma in Tropical Architecture from AA School of Architecture, UK in 1962. He is the Executive Director of Kumpulan Akitek Sdn Bhd, an architectural practice, since 1964. He was also President of the Malaysian Institute of Architects from 1967 to 1969 and 1973 to 1975, President of the Commonwealth Association of Architects from 1987 to 1989 and has been Vice President of the International Union of Architects from 1999 to 2002. He was Founding Fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia in 1995 and presently a member of Lembaga Akitek Malaysia. He was conferred many awards and honours in recognition of his contribution to the architectural profession.


Al Fatihah...we have lost one of the pioneer in our architectural communities in Malaysia...for me Dato' was a "father figure" and his article for the PAM GOLD MEDAL award presentation (back in Dec 1992)was like a boost up for motivation to start my journey in architecture as a student...the article was published in Majalah Arkitek Mar/Apr '93 Vol.5 No.2..seomga allah mencucuri rahmat ke atas arwah Dato'..amin..
